CVSS v3.1 |
| A denial of service vulnerability exists when the XmlLite runtime (XmlLite.dll) improperly parses XML input. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could cause a denial of service against an XML application.
A remote unauthenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability by issuing specially crafted requests to an XML application.
The update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how the XmlLite runtime parses XML input. |
| A remote code execution vulnerability exists when the Microsoft XML Core Services MSXML parser processes user input. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could run malicious code remotely to take control of the user’s system.
To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker could host a specially crafted website designed to invoke MSXML through a web browser. However, an attacker would have no way to force a user to visit such a website. Instead, an attacker would typically have to convince a user to either click a link in an email message or instant message that would then take the user to the website. When Internet Explorer parses the XML content, an attacker could run malicious code remotely to take control of the user’s system.
The update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how the MSXML parser processes user input. |
| A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability, achievable through an XML External Entity (XXE) injection, exists in MetInfo Content Management System (CMS) thru 8.1. This flaw stems from a defect in the XML parsing logic, which allows an attacker to construct a malicious XML entity that forces the server to initiate an HTTP request to an arbitrary internal or external network address. Successful exploitation could lead to internal network reconnaissance, port scanning, or the retrieval of sensitive information. The vulnerability may be present in the backend API called by or associated with the path `/admin/#/webset/?head_tab_active=0`, where user-provided XML data is processed. |
| KYOCERA Net Admin 3.4.0906 contains an XML External Entity (XXE) injection vulnerability in the Multi-Set Template Editor that allows unauthenticated attackers to read arbitrary system files. Attackers can craft a malicious XML file with external entity references to retrieve sensitive configuration data like database credentials through an out-of-band channel attack. |
| PDFPatcher thru 1.1.3.4663 executable's XML bookmark import functionality does not restrict XML external entity (XXE) references. The application uses .NET's XmlDocument class without disabling external entity resolution, enabling attackers to: Read arbitrary files from the victim's filesystem, exfiltrate sensitive data via out-of-band (OOB) HTTP requests, perform SSRF attacks against internal network resources, or cause a denial of service via entity expansion attacks. |
| I Librarian I-librarian version 4.8 and earlier contains a XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in line 154 of importmetadata.php(simplexml_load_string) that can result in an attacker reading the contents of a file and SSRF. This attack appear to be exploitable via posting xml in the Parameter form_import_textarea. |
| Citrix StoreFront Server before 1903, 7.15 LTSR before CU4 (3.12.4000), and 7.6 LTSR before CU8 (3.0.8000) allows XXE attacks. |
| mailboxd component in Synacor Zimbra Collaboration Suite 8.7.x before 8.7.11p10 has an XML External Entity injection (XXE) vulnerability, as demonstrated by Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml. |
| Due to the improper configuration of XML parser, user-supplied XML is parsed without applying sufficient restrictions, enabling XML External Entity (XXE) resolution in multiple WSO2 Products.
A successful XXE attack could allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to:
* Read sensitive files from the server’s filesystem.
* Perform denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, which can render the affected service unavailable. |
| Adobe Experience Manager versions 6.5.23 and earlier are affected by an Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference ('XXE') vulnerability that could lead to arbitrary file system read. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to access sensitive files on the local file system, scope is changed. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction. |
| SimpleXML (latest version 2.7.1) is vulnerable to an XXE vulnerability resulting SSRF, information disclosure, DoS and so on. |
| An issue was discovered in weixin-java-tools v3.3.0. There is an XXE vulnerability in the getXmlDoc method of the BaseWxPayResult.java file. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2018-20318. |
| GeoServer is an open source server that allows users to share and edit geospatial data. An improper URI validation vulnerability exists that enables an unauthorized attacker to perform XML External Entities (XEE) attack, then send GET request to any HTTP server. By default, GeoServer use PreventLocalEntityResolver class from GeoTools to filter out malicious URIs in XML entities before resolving them. The URI must match the regex (?i)(jar:file|http|vfs)[^?#;]*\\.xsd. But the regex leaves a chance for attackers to request to any HTTP server or limited file. Attacker can abuse this to scan internal networks and gain information about them then exploit further. GeoServer 2.25.0 and greater default to the use of ENTITY_RESOLUTION_ALLOWLIST and does not require you to provide a system property. |
| GeoServer is an open source server that allows users to share and edit geospatial data. GeoTools Schema class use of Eclipse XSD library to represent schema data structure is vulnerable to XML External Entity (XXE) exploit. This impacts whoever exposes XML processing with gt-xsd-core involved in parsing, when the documents carry a reference to an external XML schema. The gt-xsd-core Schemas class is not using the EntityResolver provided by the ParserHandler (if any was configured). This also impacts users of gt-wfs-ng DataStore where the ENTITY_RESOLVER connection parameter was not being used as intended. This vulnerability is fixed in GeoTools 33.1, 32.3, 31.7, and 28.6.1, GeoServer 2.27.1, 2.26.3, and 2.25.7, and GeoNetwork 4.4.8 and 4.2.13. |
| A vulnerability in the web UI of Cisco SD-WAN vManage Software could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to gain read and write access to information that is stored on an affected system.
This vulnerability is due to improper handling of XML External Entity (XXE) entries when the affected software parses certain XML files. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to import a crafted XML file with malicious entries. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to read and write files within the affected application.Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability. |

| Langroid is a framework for building large-language-model-powered applications. Prior to version 0.53.4, a LLM application leveraging `XMLToolMessage` class may be exposed to untrusted XML input that could result in DoS and/or exposing local files with sensitive information. Version 0.53.4 fixes the issue. |
| A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Fengoffice Feng Office 3.2.2.1. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file /application/models/ApplicationDataObject.class.php of the component Document Upload Handler. The manipulation leads to xml external entity reference. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. |
| An information disclosure vulnerability exists in the Windows Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) when it improperly parses XML input containing a reference to an external entity. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could read arbitrary files via an XML external entity (XXE) declaration.
To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker could create a file containing specially crafted XML content and convince an authenticated user to import the file.
The update addresses the vulnerability by modifying the way that the Event Viewer parses XML input. |
| Jenkins REPO Plugin 1.15.0 and earlier does not configure its XML parser to prevent XML external entity (XXE) attacks. |
