| CVE-2026-85068 | 1 Networkupstools | 1 Nut | 2026-11-06 | 2.4 Low |
| Network UPS Tools is a collection of programs which provide a common interface for monitoring and administering UPS, PDU and SCD hardware. From 2.4.2 through 2.8.5, ippon_command in drivers/blazer_usb.c partially initializes char tmp[64] with a short Megatec status query and then passes a fixed eight-byte chunk to usb_control_msg. A malicious firmware-controlled USB device presenting the Mustek Powermust VID 0x06da and Mustek Powermust PID 0x0003 matches blazer_usb_id, selects ippon_subdriver, and can receive the uninitialized trailing stack bytes during normal polling. The disclosure is bounded and read-only, requires physical or supply-chain access to the USB bus, and has no established integrity or availability impact. This issue is scheduled to be fixed in version 2.8.6. | ||||
| CVE-2026-54161 | 1 Networkupstools | 1 Nut | 2026-11-04 | 8.1 High |
| Network UPS Tools is a collection of programs which provide a common interface for monitoring and administering UPS, PDU and SCD hardware. From 2.8.3 to 2.8.5, upsmon in clients/upsmon.c inserts the server-supplied ups.alarm value into shell commands executed by notify(), async_notify(), and wall(). When a monitored device reports an ALARM state and an operator has configured NOTIFYCMD with EXEC in NOTIFYFLAG ALARM, shell metacharacters in the alarm text are evaluated on POSIX or Windows and can execute arbitrary operating-system commands as the upsmon account, which is commonly root. An attacker can control the value through a malicious or compromised upsd, a man-in-the-middle on a plaintext upsd to upsmon connection, or a compromised UPS device whose driver supplies the alarm upstream of upsd; TLS between upsd and upsmon does not mitigate the compromised-device path. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.8.6. | ||||
| CVE-2012-2944 | 1 Networkupstools | 1 Nut | 2025-04-11 | N/A |
| Buffer overflow in the addchar function in common/parseconf.c in upsd in Network UPS Tools (NUT) before 2.6.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (electric-power outage) via a long string containing non-printable characters. | ||||
