| CVE-2026-118599 | 1 Gnome | 1 Epiphany | 2026-10-31 | 5.5 Medium |
| A file overwrite vulnerability exists in Epiphany when installing WebExtension packages from .xpi files. In src/webextension/ephy-web-extension-manager.c, decompress_xpi_thread() used libarchive with archive_read_support_format_all() (and filters), so the installer did not require a real ZIP. A TAR file named *.xpi was extracted. TAR supports hard-link entry types; with Epiphany's archive_write_disk options (including ARCHIVE_EXTRACT_PERM), a crafted hard-link target can cause an attacker-chosen existing user-writable file to be truncated and overwritten with attacker-controlled content and mode bits, without a dedicated warning dialog, when the user installs or opens the crafted .xpi. This is related to but separate from the ZIP-slip path traversal fixed as CVE-2026-77679 (#2922 / MR !2143). Requirements: the victim must install or open a malicious WebExtension (.xpi). Affected: Epiphany >= 47.0 (WebExtension XPI install path). Fixed: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/epiphany/-/merge_requests/2248 (commit 0cc9ab55 — only enable ZIP format support). Upstream: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/epiphany/-/work_items/2988 Reporter acknowledgment: Fernando Munoz | ||||
| CVE-2008-5985 | 1 Gnome | 1 Epiphany | 2026-04-23 | N/A |
| Untrusted search path vulnerability in the Python interface in Epiphany 2.22.3, and possibly other versions, allows local users to execute arbitrary code via a Trojan horse Python file in the current working directory, related to a vulnerability in the PySys_SetArgv function (CVE-2008-5983). | ||||
| CVE-2005-0238 | 4 Gnome, Mozilla, Omnigroup and 1 more | 5 Epiphany, Camino, Mozilla and 2 more | 2026-04-16 | N/A |
| The International Domain Name (IDN) support in Epiphany allows remote attackers to spoof domain names using punycode encoded domain names that are decoded in URLs and SSL certificates in a way that uses homograph characters from other character sets, which facilitates phishing attacks. | ||||
| CVE-2017-1000025 | 1 Gnome | 1 Epiphany | 2025-04-20 | N/A |
| GNOME Web (Epiphany) 3.23 before 3.23.5, 3.22 before 3.22.6, 3.20 before 3.20.7, 3.18 before 3.18.11, and prior versions, is vulnerable to a password manager sweep attack resulting in the remote exfiltration of stored passwords for a selected set of websites. | ||||
| CVE-2010-3312 | 1 Gnome | 1 Epiphany | 2025-04-11 | N/A |
| Epiphany 2.28 and 2.29, when WebKit and LibSoup are used, unconditionally displays a closed-lock icon for any URL beginning with the https: substring, without any warning to the user, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof arbitrary https web sites via a crafted X.509 server certificate. | ||||
| CVE-2019-6251 | 7 Canonical, Fedoraproject, Gnome and 4 more | 7 Ubuntu Linux, Fedora, Epiphany and 4 more | 2024-11-21 | N/A |
| WebKitGTK and WPE WebKit prior to version 2.24.1 are vulnerable to address bar spoofing upon certain JavaScript redirections. An attacker could cause malicious web content to be displayed as if for a trusted URI. This is similar to the CVE-2018-8383 issue in Microsoft Edge. | ||||
| CVE-2018-12016 | 1 Gnome | 1 Epiphany | 2024-11-21 | N/A |
| libephymain.so in GNOME Web (aka Epiphany) through 3.28.2.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via certain window.open and document.write calls. | ||||
| CVE-2018-11396 | 1 Gnome | 1 Epiphany | 2024-11-21 | N/A |
| ephy-session.c in libephymain.so in GNOME Web (aka Epiphany) through 3.28.2.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via JavaScript code that triggers access to a NULL URL, as demonstrated by a crafted window.open call. | ||||
