CVSS v3.1 |
| An Improper Following of a Certificate's Chain of Trust vulnerability in J-Web of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series allows a PITM to intercept the communication of the device and get access to confidential information and potentially modify it.
When an SRX device is provisioned to connect to Security Director (SD) cloud, it doesn't perform sufficient verification of the received server certificate. This allows a PITM to intercept the communication between the SRX and SD cloud and access credentials and other sensitive information.

| An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the flow daemon (flowd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series allows an attacker sending a specific, malformed ICMPv6 packet to cause the srxpfe process to crash and restart. Continued receipt and processing of these packets will repeatedly crash the srxpfe process and sustain the Denial of Service (DoS) condition.
During NAT64 translation, receipt of a specific, malformed ICMPv6 packet destined to the device will cause the srxpfe process to crash and restart.
This issue cannot be triggered using IPv4 nor other IPv6 traffic.
This issue affects Junos OS on SRX Series:

| Memory leak in Juniper JUNOS Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory exhaustion and device reboot) via certain IPv6 packets. |
| Memory leak in Juniper JUNOS 6.4 through 8.0, built before May 10, 2006, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (kernel packet memory consumption and crash) via crafted IPv6 packets whose buffers are not released after they are processed. |
| Unspecified vulnerability in Juniper Networks JUNOSe E-series routers before 7-1-1 has unknown impact and remote attack vectors related to the DNS "client code," as demonstrated by the OUSPG PROTOS DNS test suite. |
| The Internet Key Exchange version 1 (IKEv1) implementation in Juniper JUNOS and JUNOSe software for M, T, and J-series routers before release 6.4, and E-series routers before 7-1-0, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted IKE packets, as demonstrated by the PROTOS ISAKMP Test Suite for IKEv1. NOTE: due to the lack of details in the advisory, it is unclear which of CVE-2005-3666, CVE-2005-3667, and/or CVE-2005-3668 this issue applies to. |
| Juniper JUNOS 5.x through JUNOS 7.x allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (routing disabled) via a large number of MPLS packets, which are not filtered or verified before being sent to the Routing Engine, which reduces the speed at which other packets are processed. |
| A Missing Authentication for Critical Function vulnerability in the Flexible PIC Concentrators (FPCs) of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX Series allows a local, authenticated attacker with low privileges to gain direct access to FPCs installed in the device.
A local user with low privileges can gain direct access to the installed FPCs as a high privileged user, which can potentially lead to a full compromise of the affected component.
This issue affects Junos OS Evolved on PTX10004, PTX10008, PTX100016, with JNP10K-LC1201 or JNP10K-LC1202:
* All versions before 21.2R3-S8-EVO,

| An Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting') vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos Space allows an attacker to inject script tags in the
list filter field that, when visited by another user, enables the attacker to execute commands with the target's permissions, including an administrator.
This issue affects all versions of Junos Space before 24.1R5 Patch V3. |
| An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to bypass the configured firewall filter and access the control-plane of the device.
On MX platforms with
MPC10, MPC11, LC4800 or LC9600
line cards, and MX304, firewall filters applied on a loopback interface lo0.n (where n is a non-0 number) don't get executed when lo0.n is in the global VRF / default routing-instance.
An affected configuration would be:
user@host# show configuration interfaces lo0 | display set
set interfaces lo0 unit 1 family inet filter input <filter-name>
where a firewall filter is applied to a non-0 loopback interface, but that loopback interface is not referred to in any routing-instance (RI) configuration, which implies that it's used in the default RI.
The issue can be observed with the CLI command:
user@device> show firewall counter filter <filter_name>
not showing any matches.
This issue affects Junos OS on MX Series:
* all versions before 23.2R2-S6,
* 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S7,
* 24.2 versions before 24.2R2,
* 24.4 versions before 24.4R2. |
| A Buffer Over-read vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS).
When an affected device receives a BGP update with a set of specific optional transitive attributes over an established peering session, rpd will crash and restart when attempting to advertise the received information to another peer.
This issue can only happen if one or both of the BGP peers of the receiving session are non-4-byte-AS capable as determined from the advertised capabilities during BGP session establishment. Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved default behavior is 4-byte-AS capable unless this has been specifically disabled by configuring:
[ protocols bgp ... disable-4byte-as ]
Established BGP sessions can be checked by executing:
show bgp neighbor <IP address> | match "4 byte AS"
This issue affects:
Junos OS:
* all versions before 22.4R3-S8,
* 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S5,
* 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S6,
* 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S2,
* 24.4 versions before 24.4R2;
Junos OS Evolved:
* all versions before 22.4R3-S8-EVO,
* 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S5-EVO,
* 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S6-EVO,
* 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S2-EVO,
* 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-EVO. |
| utility.c in telnetd in netkit telnet through 0.17 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via short writes or urgent data, because of a buffer overflow involving the netclear and nextitem functions. |
| A vulnerability in the HTTP/HTTPS service used by J-Web, Web Authentication, Dynamic-VPN (DVPN), Firewall Authentication Pass-Through with Web-Redirect, and Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) allows an unauthenticated attacker to perform local file inclusion (LFI) or path traversal. Using this vulnerability, an attacker may be able to inject commands into the httpd.log, read files with 'world' readable permission file or obtain J-Web session tokens. In the case of command injection, as the HTTP service runs as user 'nobody', the impact of this command injection is limited. (CVSS score 5.3, vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N) In the case of reading files with 'world' readable permission, in Junos OS 19.3R1 and above, the unauthenticated attacker would be able to read the configuration file. (CVSS score 5.9, vector CVSS:3.1/ AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N) If J-Web is enabled, the attacker could gain the same level of access of anyone actively logged into J-Web. If an administrator is logged in, the attacker could gain administrator access to J-Web. (CVSS score 8.8, vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H) This issue only affects Juniper Networks Junos OS devices with HTTP/HTTPS services enabled. Junos OS devices with HTTP/HTTPS services disabled are not affected. If HTTP/HTTPS services are enabled, the following command will show the httpd processes: user@device> show system processes | match http 5260 - S 0:00.13 /usr/sbin/httpd-gk -N 5797 - I 0:00.10 /usr/sbin/httpd --config /jail/var/etc/httpd.conf To summarize: If HTTP/HTTPS services are disabled, there is no impact from this vulnerability. If HTTP/HTTPS services are enabled and J-Web is not in use, this vulnerability has a CVSS score of 5.9 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N). If J-Web is enabled, this vulnerability has a CVSS score of 8.8 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H). Juniper SIRT has received a single report of this vulnerability being exploited in the wild. Out of an abundance of caution, we are notifying customers so they can take appropriate actions. Indicators of Compromise: The /var/log/httpd.log may have indicators that commands have injected or files being accessed. The device administrator can look for these indicators by searching for the string patterns "=*;*&" or "*%3b*&" in /var/log/httpd.log, using the following command: user@device> show log httpd.log | match "=*;*&|=*%3b*&" If this command returns any output, it might be an indication of malicious attempts or simply scanning activities. Rotated logs should also be reviewed, using the following command: user@device> show log httpd.log.0.gz | match "=*;*&|=*%3b*&" user@device> show log httpd.log.1.gz | match "=*;*&|=*%3b*&" Note that a skilled attacker would likely remove these entries from the local log file, thus effectively eliminating any reliable signature that the device had been attacked. | Any Juniper Networks SRX series device with one or more ALGs enabled may experience a flowd crash when traffic is processed by the Sun/MS-RPC ALGs. This vulnerability in the Sun/MS-RPC ALG services component of Junos OS allows an attacker to cause a repeated denial of service against the target. Repeated traffic in a cluster may cause repeated flip-flop failure operations or full failure to the flowd daemon halting traffic on all nodes. Only IPv6 traffic is affected by this issue. IPv4 traffic is unaffected. This issues is not seen with to-host traffic. This issue has no relation with HA services themselves, only the ALG service. No other Juniper Networks products or platforms are affected by this issue. Affected releases are Juniper Networks Junos OS 12.1X46 prior to 12.1X46-D55 on SRX; 12.1X47 prior to 12.1X47-D45 on SRX; 12.3X48 prior to 12.3X48-D32, 12.3X48-D35 on SRX; 15.1X49 prior to 15.1X49-D60 on SRX. |
| Juniper Networks Junos OS 16.1R1, and services releases based off of 16.1R1, are vulnerable to the receipt of a crafted BGP Protocol Data Unit (PDU) sent directly to the router, which can cause the RPD routing process to crash and restart. Unlike BGP UPDATEs, which are transitive in nature, this issue can only be triggered by a packet sent directly to the IP address of the router. Repeated crashes of the rpd daemon can result in an extended denial of service condition. This issue only affects devices running Junos OS 16.1R1 and services releases based off of 16.1R1 (e.g. 16.1R1-S1, 16.1R1-S2, 16.1R1-S3). No prior versions of Junos OS are affected by this vulnerability, and this issue was resolved in Junos OS 16.2 prior to 16.2R1. No other Juniper Networks products or platforms are affected by this issue. This issue was found during internal product security testing. |
| If extended statistics are enabled via 'set chassis extended-statistics', when executing any operation that fetches interface statistics, including but not limited to SNMP GET requests, the pfem process or the FPC may crash and restart. Repeated crashes of PFE processing can result in an extended denial of service condition. This issue only affects the following platforms: (1) EX2200, EX3300, XRE200 (2) MX Series routers with MPC7E/8E/9E PFEs installed, and only if 'extended-statistics' are enabled under the [edit chassis] configuration. Affected releases are Juniper Networks Junos OS 14.1 prior to 14.1R8-S5, 14.1R9 on MX Series; 14.1X53 prior to 14.1X53-D46, 14.1X53-D50 on EX2200, EX3300, XRE200; 14.2 prior to 14.2R7-S9, 14.2R8 on MX Series; 15.1 prior to 15.1F5-S8, 15.1F6-S8, 15.1R5-S3, 15.1R6 on MX Series; 16.1 prior to 16.1R4-S5, 16.1R5, 16.1R6 on MX Series; 16.1X65 prior to 16.1X65-D45 on EX2200, EX3300, XRE200; 16.2 prior to 16.2R2-S1, 16.2R3 on MX Series; 17.1 prior to 17.1R2-S2, 17.1R3 on MX Series; 17.2 prior to 17.2R1-S3, 17.2R2 on MX Series; 17.2X75 prior to 17.2X75-D50 on MX Series; 17.3 prior to 17.3R1-S1, 17.3R2 on MX Series. No other Juniper Networks products or platforms are affected by this issue. |
