| Quest Foglight for Databases AbstractParser XML External Entity Processing Information Disclosure Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on affected installations of Quest Foglight for Databases. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the AbstractParser class. Due to the improper restriction of XML External Entity (XXE) references, a crafted document specifying a URI causes the XML parser to access the URI and embed the contents back into the XML document for further processing. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to disclose information in the context of SYSTEM. Was ZDI-CAN-28929. |
| Quest Foglight for Databases getSource XML External Entity Processing Information Disclosure Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to initiate arbitrary server-side requests on affected installations of Quest Foglight for Databases. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the getSource method. Due to the improper restriction of XML External Entity (XXE) references, a crafted document specifying a URI causes the XML parser to access the URI and embed the contents back into the XML document for further processing. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to disclose information in the context of the application. Was ZDI-CAN-29934. |
| The Symfony Config component XmlUtils::parse() enables DTD validation before rejecting documents that carry a doctype, allowing XML external entity (XXE) injection in Symfony versions prior to 5.4.56, 6.x prior to 6.4.50, 7.x prior to 7.4.23, and 8.x prior to 8.1.11. A remote attacker who can supply XML to this method can determine whether local files exist, cause a denial of service, and, in some configurations, exfiltrate local file content via a crafted XML document whose doctype declares an external file:// entity.
XmlUtils::parse() sets $dom->validateOnParse = true before calling loadXML() and only rejects documents carrying a doctype afterwards. Enabling DTD validation makes libxml resolve external entities during loadXML(), and LIBXML_NONET blocks http:// but not file://, so a file:// entity is read from disk before the doctype rejection runs. The content of the file is not returned to the caller, but the distinct libxml error for a missing path reveals whether a file exists, and an entity pointing at a large or slow file causes a denial of service. If the application registers a network-capable stream wrapper such as s3://, a parameter entity can also send the content of a local file to an external server. This is the same issue as CVE-2026-45071, which was fixed in the DomCrawler component but not in Config.
Applications are affected if they pass untrusted XML to XmlUtils::parse() directly. The Symfony components that call it process developer-provided or operator-configured sources, such as configuration files and the XLIFF documents fetched by the translation providers. |
| In JetBrains PhpStorm before 2026.3 xXE was possible in untrusted projects via PHPMD ruleset autodetection |
| A flaw was found in RESTEasy's SourceProvider. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to perform an unauthenticated remote file read. By sending a specially crafted XML body with a DOCTYPE declaration referencing external entities to an endpoint that accepts application/xml and returns Source or StreamSource, the server can be tricked into resolving the entity and including sensitive file contents in the HTTP response. This is due to the SourceProvider.writeTo() method creating a SAXParser without disabling external entity resolution, leading to an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability. |
| In JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA before 2026.3,
2026.2.4 xXE attack was possible via an XML response to an HTTP Client request |
| Szafir and Szafir Weryfikująca are vulnerable to XML External Entity (XXE) injection. When a user signs or verify a crafted XML file containing a `DOCTYPE` with an external DTD reference, the parser processes external entities, allowing an attacker to read arbitrary files from the victim's filesystem.
This issue was fixed in Szafir version 2.0 build 708. Szafir Weryfikująca is no longer supported (End of Life) and has not been fixed. |
| XML External Entity (XXE) Injection in ContentWorker in Apache OFBiz 24.09 before 24.09.08 on all platforms allows a remote authenticated attacker holding content-author permission to read arbitrary server files and trigger server-side request forgery by storing a crafted text/xml DataResource containing an external entity declaration, causing ContentWorker's rendering of that content — via renderContentAsText and related CMS/help render paths — to parse the stored XML using FreeMarker's default NodeModel.parse DocumentBuilderFactory, which enables neither FEATURE_SECURE_PROCESSING nor external-entity/DTD restrictions, resolving the external entity and returning its content in the rendered response. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 24.09.08, which fixes this issue. |
| Wowza Streaming Engine before 4.12.2 processes XML external entities, which allows remote attackers to read local files with the privileges of the Wowza Streaming Engine process. |
| Copernik XML Factory provides secure-by-default JAXP factory creation for Java. Prior to 0.1.2, Copernik XML Factory does not block XInclude resource resolution on the stock JDK provider after an application enables XInclude on a factory returned by `XmlFactories.newDocumentBuilderFactory()` or `XmlFactories.newSAXParserFactory()`, or on an `XMLReader` passed through `XmlFactories.harden()`. An application parsing untrusted XML can resolve attacker-controlled `xi:include` references to disclose local files or, through `http` references, reach internal network endpoints by server-side request forgery. Exploitation requires use of one of those factory/hardening APIs, the stock JDK provider with Apache Xerces absent from the classpath, explicit `setXIncludeAware(true)` or the equivalent reader feature, and XML from an untrusted source. The Xerces provider selected when Xerces is present and the Android provider are unaffected. This issue is fixed in version 0.1.2. |
| IBM MQ 9.2.0.0 through 9.2.0.44 LTS, 9.3.0.0 through 9.3.0.42 LTS, 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.0.26 LTS, 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.5.1 CD, and 10.0.0.0 through 10.0.0.5 LTS and CD Managed File Transfer could allow an authenticated attacker to obtain sensitive information or cause a denial of service due to improper restriction of XML external entity references in command queue processing. |
| IBM MQ 9.2.0.0 through 9.2.0.44 LTS, 9.3.0.0 through 9.3.0.42 LTS, 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.0.26 LTS, 9.4.0.0 through 9.4.5.1 CD, and 10.0.0.0 through 10.0.0.5 LTS and CD is vulnerable to an XML external entity injection (XXE) attack when processing XML data. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to expose sensitive information or consume memory resources. |

| MailEnable parseObjectResponse XML External Entity Processing Information Disclosure Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on affected installations of MailEnable. Authentication is required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the implementation of the parseObjectResponse method. The issue results from the lack of proper restriction of XML External Entity (XXE) references. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to disclose information in the context of the service account. Was ZDI-CAN-29137. |
| In Progress® Telerik® Document Processing Libraries prior to version 2026.3.1027, an XML external entity reference vulnerability in SVG image processing allows an unauthenticated attacker to read local files on the server via a crafted SVG image with a nested embedded SVG, when the image is processed or exported to PDF. |
| FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x before 2.9.7 might allow attackers to conduct external XML entity (XXE) attacks by leveraging failure to block unspecified JDK classes from polymorphic deserialization. |
| java/org/apache/catalina/servlets/DefaultServlet.java in the default servlet in Apache Tomcat before 6.0.40, 7.x before 7.0.53, and 8.x before 8.0.4 does not properly restrict XSLT stylesheets, which allows remote attackers to bypass security-manager restrictions and read arbitrary files via a crafted web application that provides an XML external entity declaration in conjunction with an entity reference, related to an XML External Entity (XXE) issue. |
| In libexpat in Expat before 2.2.7, XML input including XML names that contain a large number of colons could make the XML parser consume a high amount of RAM and CPU resources while processing (enough to be usable for denial-of-service attacks). |
| A flaw in libxml2 allows remote XML entity inclusion with default parser flags (i.e., when the caller did not request entity substitution, DTD validation, external DTD subset loading, or default DTD attributes). Depending on the context, this may expose a higher-risk attack surface in libxml2 not usually reachable with default parser flags, and expose content from local files, HTTP, or FTP servers (which might be otherwise unreachable). |
| libxml2 2.9.4 and earlier, as used in XMLSec 1.2.23 and earlier and other products, does not offer a flag directly indicating that the current document may be read but other files may not be opened, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct XML External Entity (XXE) attacks via a crafted document. |
